San Diego, California - Auday Arabo, Democratic Candidate for the 78th Assembly District,
announced today a key endorsement from Assemblymember Mervyn M. Dymally, the Chair of the
Assembly Committee on Health.
Chairman Dymally has been a leader in the California legislature since 1962, when he was first elected to
the State Assembly. In 1966, he became the first African American to serve in the State Senate, and was
soon elected as Chairman of the Senate Majority. In 1974, he was elected the first of only two African
American Lieutenant Governors in United States history. In Congress, Chairman Dymally served as Chair
of the Congressional Black Caucus.
"I am proud to endorse Auday Arabo of the 78 th Assembly District. Auday is a young and dynamic leader that I know is going to storm Sacramento and be a strong advocate for those who, too often, go without a voice," said Chairman Dymally.
A former criminal prosecutor with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, and past President
and CEO of the Neighborhood Market Association - the largest independent grocers association on the
West Coast - Arabo understands the need for a safe community, free of gangs, where businesses and
community organizations can thrive. He will work hard to improve education and health care, as well as, fight for more police officers and after school programs to ensure that our children are not only safe and supervised, but are thriving and learning.
"I am honored and humbled to receive Chairman Dymally's support for this all important Assembly race.
The endorsement of my candidacy by a true pioneer in Democratic politics assures me that I am on the right track to be able to serve the hardworking people of the 78 th Assembly District," said Auday Arabo. |
